I missed the craze with Harry Potter ‘back in the day’ when it was all the rage, however over the past few years I have become more of a fan, trying to read the books and watch the films in between everything else I want to read or see.
Added to this, I thought it would be nice to see some of the filming locations from the films, with the initial place fitting in nicely to my current Cemetery / Church photography interest.
Gloucester Cathedral was the place and it had been on my list for some time, but I decided to finally put the effort in on my way back from Devon as it was ‘roughly’ on my route home.
The day I visited was a Monday so it was particularly quiet and for a good part of my visit I had the entire place to myself, which made photography somewhat more simple than I was thinking it would be.
Disregard the Harry Potter connection and I would have still (and did) love this place as the architecture and skills that have gone into building the place are fantastic, you can almost feel the historical events just seeping out of the brickwork.
So, if you do get a chance to visit, do so and you will not be disappointed, plus it’s always nice to be able to head out of the hustle and bustle of a busy town/city into such peaceful and tranquil places.
