The Scottish National Gallery, Edinburgh

During my Birthday trip to Scotland I spent the day wandering around Edinburgh and shamefully the Scottish National Gallery was not even on my Radar.

After a long day of walking many miles around the city (which is probably now one of my favourite places to visit), I stumbled across the Gallery as I was finishing up the last hour or so of my day before I could catch my train back to my hotel.

My, what a pleasant find this turned out to be as it ended up being one of the best places I managed to see that day, I would have happily delayed my train back to the hotel to spend more time here, but unfortunately, the gallery was only open for another hour or so by the time I got in, so it was a quick wander around to see as much as possible before they closed for the evening.

A return trip is certainly needed to allow me to fully take in more of the details of the paintings “in the flesh”.
