The Japanese Garden, St Mawgan, Cornwall

I go down to Cornwall each year towards the end of the summer and this place seems to be a place I visit most years, mainly because it’s a bit of a hidden gem and a very relaxing place just to sit and watch the time go by, but also, sadly because the Bonsai plants I buy from there never seem to do that well in my hands and more often than not, they don’t last the end of the year.

It’s good in a way for them as repeat business from people is probably what they need, but does not say much for my ability with a Bonsai plant.

On my first few visits, I did not realise the significance of some of the designs in the garden, but a couple of years ago, I managed to get a tour of a different Japanese Garden, where the guide was very knowledgeable in the culture and on this latest visit, I was able to notice and appreciate more of the features around the garden.

I once again purchased a Bonsai tree and I am going to put extra effort into ensuring it survives (at least) the remainder of the year!
